With the optional SAMScan tool, SAMS users can scan client identifiers and service units off of a number of different bar-coded roster sheets printed from within the SAMS system. While scanning, service records are maintained in a "working" database that can be manipulated and tweaked prior to sending the data to the SAMS database for unit recording. SAMScan blends convenience, high performance with powerful data management in an easy-to-use service unit that enhances efficiency and effectiveness at multiple levels.
SAMScan supports the use of "wedge" type scanners that interface directly with a computer’s keyboard port. In addition, handheld versions temporarily store service units in the scanner itself. Harmony offers a LaserLite scanner that stores service records internally, with no need for a computer. To download the units into the computer, simply place the scanner in the base unit and SAMScan automatically downloads the service records from the scanner. Records may then be reviewed for accuracy and edited if necessary before sending to SAMS. SAMScan is licensed per PC it is installed on, or alternatively with a site license which allows for installation on unlimited PCs within the same organization.
